Discover Fort-Mahon-Plage from your campsite in the Baie de Somme
Charming seaside resort
Fort-Mahon-Plage is a charming seaside resort located 30 kilometers from our family campsite on the Baie de Somme. As soon as you arrive in Fort-Mahon, take a stroll along the Avenue de la Plage, lined with stores, boutiques and restaurants. It’s the place to be for vacationers and Fort-Mahonnais alike, who like to hang out here during the summer months. The Fort-Mahon market is held here every Tuesday and Friday morning.
As you wander through the town’s streets and alleys, you’ll admire fine examples of the seaside architecture of the interwar period that helped redesign Fort-Mahon-Plage’s urban landscape at the end of the 19th century. Long gone are the days when the present-day resort of Fort-Mahon-Plage was just a small piece of land “lost” in the middle of the dunes!
If you have the time, make a detour to theEspace d’Exposition Jean Marie Boulard to discover the works of local painters, photographers and cartoonists, who show you the Bay of the Somme from an original angle. You can even buy a painting you’ve fallen in love with!
If you’re feeling peckish, take a gourmet break and try the famous Bouchot mussels, a rack of salt-meadow lamb and finish off with a slice of beaten cake topped with sea buckthorn jam…
